Optical Bonding Options:

 

In-Frame Bonding
With this method, the cover glass is bonded to the LCD area only, inside the frame of the original LCD. There is no mechanical link to the frame of the LCD and the LCD must be mounted via the mounting holes of the OEM panel.
On-Frame Bonding
In this process, the cover glass is bonded to all or part of the front bezel of the original LCD and to the full LCD front surface. Unlike in-frame bonding, the glass size used has very few constraints and the cover glass can be used as a mounting surface.
Over-Frame Bonding
This approach consists of bonding the cover glass to all or part of the front bezel of the original LCD and can extend beyond the LCD bezel frame up to a maximum of 1.0” . Like on-frame bonding, the cover glass can be used as a mounting surface.

Optical Bonding Technology affixes a cover lens, such as anti-reflective glass, plastic, or touch sensor directly onto a flat panel display and eliminates the air gap between, in order to reduce the reflectance to as low as 0.2%*, and dramatically increase contrast ratio in a high ambient light environment.


This technology also allows ID designers and mechanical engineers to design a larger cover lens or leave out front bezel for less total thickness, rather than the traditional bezel design. This is because not only can the bonding layer provide better impact absorption, but also better support to the cover lens.
